The Commission has made significant progress lately, with improvements in courthouse security & successful grant acquisitions. A grant dedicated to enhancing the courthouse allowed us to upgrade exterior doors, the Dome, improve accessibility to the facilities & other areas throughout the building.
Grants have also allowed us to update police department fleet & other necessary equipment.
We have saved money by switching insurance agencies, providing a more stable investment for future commissions.
Our Parks & Recreation Department has seen upgrades to the county pool & boat ramps.

We have overseen the installation of kiosks at several locations to increase tourism opportunities, on behalf of Parks & Rec. This has led to a significant increase in AirBnb & Vrbo lodgings over the past five years.
During CoVID, we established a weekly task force to ensure community safety. We worked with this task force daily to evolve our strategies as the pandemic evolved.
We have conducted a study in conjunction with the City of Buckhannon to improve the county's first responders in an effort to continually improve our communities & keep our county a safe place to live & raise families.
